“I gave to One Mission because of the vision to touch thousands of lives, but I didn’t expect that gift to also impact my life through Saturate Austin.”
“Christianity was never taught in our home,” said Linda Dickey, a longtime member of Hill Country Bible Church Austin. Although her parents’ marriage was afflicted with alcohol-induced abuse from her father, God grew Linda spiritually from a young age, providing her with two mentors that helped shaped her throughout her life, teaching her “faith” and “muscle”.
When Linda’s mother passed away, she received an inheritance that included funds from her father. “Much to my surprise,” Linda said, “God prompted me to give away some of the money” to One Mission last year. “When I was prompted to give this money, I laughed so hard, tears filled my eyes, and my heart leaped for joy,” she said. She gave of the gift that God had given her, knowing the funds from her troubled parents would bless others with the life-changing reality of Jesus.
A few months later, Linda enrolled in the Saturate Austin Institute and has since watched God turn her gifts to One Mission into a blessing upon herself. Since becoming a student this September, Linda says she “cannot have a quick Bible read… my mind now looks at content, culture, who is speaking, who is the audience, insights from footnotes, etc…” After decades of being a Christian, she is discovering greater ways to dive deeper into scripture and her faith. Because of the Saturate Austin Institute, Linda says, “I am gaining valuable resources that I will be able to use the rest of my life as I continue to serve and grow in Him. What price tag can you put on enlightenment?”
